COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man was arrested in connection to a fatal shooting at a southeast Columbus gas station earlier this month, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Malike Miller, 22, was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshal’s Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST), the Columbus Division of Police’s SWAT team and K-9 Unit Friday on an outstanding warrant. He is charged with murder for the shooting of 23-year-old Jared Porter on March 3.
Task force members found Miller in the 1700 block of Shanley Drive in Columbus. He is now awaiting his court appearance at the Franklin County Jail.
The shooting happened just before 4:30 a.m. at the Sheetz gas station, located at 3999 Hamilton Road near Groveport.
Porter was found inside the gas station suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Columbus police.
He was taken to Mount Carmel East hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
According to Franklin County Municipal Court records, video surveillance showed Miller in a shootout with Porter while in front of the gas station.
Miller is being held on a $1 million bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 3 at 9 a.m.
